A Perfect 7-Day Scottsdale Itinerary

If you have 7 days to spend in Scottsdale, we’ve got a vacation itinerary that will help you plan an unforgettable visit! Whether you’re a first-timer or regular visitor to Scottsdale, there is always something new to discover in this sun-washed, American Southwest city. Dubbed the “Beverly Hills of the Desert”, Scottsdale has just the right balance of luxury and laid-back charm, outdoor adventure, and cultural and culinary depth for perfectly paced vacation any time of year.

Here's how we would spend 7 days in Scottsdale:

Day 1

Arrive and settle in to your private desert vacation rental. Ease into vacation mode by checking into one of our two Scottsdale properties at The Rocks Residence Club. Settle into a spacious, stunning home with private patio, pool and desert views. Spend the afternoon lounging poolside, practicing on the front nine, or taking in a light spa treatment to shake off travel fatigue. As evening falls, head to Old Town Scottsdale for dinner, where Southwestern-inspired menus, rooftop patios, and live music make it an ideal first taste of the city’s energy.

Day 2

Old Town Scottsddale and Historic Roots. Dedicate your first full day to Old Town’s walkable charm. Grab a coffee at Berdena’s then browse one-of-a-kind Native American art and jewelry at the Native Art Market. Take your pick of traditional and trending Western wear at the area’s many trading posts and Southwestern-styled boutiques, then head to the Scottsdale Museum of the West (a Smithsonian-affiliated institution) for art, artifacts and exhibits.

Get your selfie in front of the Bob Parks Horse Fountain before enjoying a casual cowboy-chic lunch at the Rusty Spur Saloon or the Roaring Fork. Head back to your Scottsdale vacation rental and catch some sun at your private pool. In the evening, take in the rose-gold sunset on horseback with a guided horseback ride just outside of town, or grab a table at Isabella's Kitchen, known for their lively atmosphere and incredible sunsets. Reservations are highly recommended!

Day 3

Sonoran Desert Adventure. The Sonoran Desert is Scottsdale’s natural showstopper. Start early when the temps are cooler and consider booking a guided trip for extra ease. Hike or bike ride through the nearby McDowell Sonoran Preserve, where towering saguaros frame picture-perfect views of this protected, ecologically rich valley.

In the afternoon, visit Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert architectural masterpiece. For dinner, explore Scottsdale’s more refined side.

For modern takes on traditional Southwestern flavours, try The Frybread Lounge, the iconic El Chorro Restaurant, or FnB. The Mission and Café Monarch are other elegant institutions with menus you likely won’t find anywhere else.

Day 4

Day Trip to Sedona. A short and incredible scenic 2-hour drive north will take you to Sedona, where crimson rock formations create one of the world’s most dramatic landscapes. Explore the many art galleries in town or head for the red-rock hiking trails of Devil’s Bridge and Cathedral Rock. Stop for a dip at Slide Rock State Park before returning to Scottsdale for a relaxed takeout dinner on your private patio. Add a nightcap and stargazing under the clear night skies for the romantic at heart.

Day 5

Wellness and World-Class Shopping. Slow things down and beat the heat with a wellness-focused day. Scottsdale is famous for its spas: there are more than 50 luxury resort and day spas to choose from! Many specialize in desert botanicals and ancient Native American healing techniques, guaranteeing an opportunity to recharge and restore.

In the afternoon, take your time browsing shops at Kierland Commons, a great outdoor shopping center with a wide array of stores and restaurants. Or explore one of the city’s local design districts for vintage, home décor, locally made artisan goods and everything in between. Pro tip: keep your eyes peeled for Scottsdale Public Art installations scattered throughout the city!

Day 6

Golf, Gardens, and Hot Air Balloons! Consider this a choose your own adventure day. Golfers can tee off on any number of championship courses in the Scottsdale area, while families with young kids and nature lovers may prefer a day trip to the Desert Botanical Garden – butterfly gardens included! – in nearby Phoenix (a 25-min drive). For something really unique, get up extra early for a morning hot-air balloon ride and panoramic views of the beautiful Sonoran Desert.

Day 7

Travel Day, But Make it "Luxe." Book a late-day departure, and if you’re an LVIP diamond member, enjoy a late checkout from your Luxus vacation rental. There’s plenty of time for a morning walk and dip in the pool, or to take one final stroll through Old Town Scottsdale for souvenirs and brunch at Beginner’s Luck – or just enjoy the last few hours in your own private, luxury oasis.
